Pysanka is a traditional Ukrainian art of decorating eggs that has existed for more than a thousand years. Historically, pysankas were powerful symbols of life and renewal. Each ornament carried a meaning, and such eggs were kept in homes, given as gifts, or used in games and rituals connected with prosperity and harvest.
This Maxi Collection includes five hand-decorated pysanka eggs, each representing a different region of Ukraine: Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Donetsk. The ornaments reflect traditional regional patterns that have been preserved in Ukrainian folk art for generations.
Together, these pysankas form a symbolic map of Ukraine’s cultural heritage, uniting different regions through the shared language of ornamentation.
Each egg is a real blown chicken egg, carefully decorated by hand by a Ukrainian craftswoman using traditional techniques. Because every piece is handmade, no two pysankas are exactly the same.
